Knowledge lantern ASAP club of GBHSS Chittur organised World Students day celebration on 13 th October 2017. World student’s day is celebrated on 15 October every year on the occasion of birth anniversary of A P J Abdul Kalam. The program turned out to be a great inspiration to all students. Program had started at 1.00 PM as per schedule with Prayer song followed by welcome speech by Nivya K, Program Manager Mr. Jerin Raju Thomas; other teaching staffs shared some words about APJ to the students, which were followed by the performance of students. Apart from sharing their views through charts, this time our students made PowerPoint presentations. Their presentation bagged great appreciation from audience. World Youth Skill day was celebrated by Knowledge Lantern ASAP club of GBHSS Chittur on 14 th July 2017. The program had started at 10.00 AM with an orientation program by plus two students. It turned out to be a great success to create awareness of skill up gradation, and course details etc... The orientation got finished by 10.30 AM. We conducted an exhibition. Apart from sharing their views and ideas through chart works, this year we provided an opportunity to our students to showcase their practical talents. The exhibition was from 12.45 PM to 1.45 PM. The General Duty Assistant students organised a BP checking & BMI checking camp. It gathered not only the attention of students but also the teaching and non teaching staffs. An interview is an unavoidable part of the procedure for some admissions, scholarships or jobs. The purpose of all the interviews is to measure the personality, knowledge and intention of the candidate. In keeping this directive we have adopted as continuous and comprehensive assessment and evaluation process. This method examines the extent to which students are able to assimilate concepts and apply them. First mock interview were held on 4 th February 2017. Interview had started at 11.30 AM as per schedule. The students attempted the interview with great interest. The evaluation was done by Mr. Siju Rajan , SDE. The results provide students a comprehensive assessment of their skills and pinpoint areas of weakness and strengths. “Life is filled with risks and challenges and if you try to avoid them you will reach nowhere in life.” The mock interview would provide a special experience to evaluate them and to improve accordingly.   ...
ASAP has been a prestigious association in our school since its inception. It has been working rigorously during the past few years focusing on the improvement of reading, writing and speaking skills of the students in our school. To develop the leadership qualities, organising skills among ASAP students an ASAP club “Knowledge Lantern” was inaugurated at GBHSS Chittur on 26 th January 2017. Haritha Keralam Project an innovative mission put forth by the Government of kerala ,  emphasis on waste disposal at source and households and renovation and cleaning of water sources are the highlights of the project. Besides, cleanliness and development of the agriculture sector and organic family will also get focus. To inculcate and promote general awareness about Haritha Keralam mission, the ASAP students of GBHSS Chittur organised a program. “The mind ought sometimes to be diverted that it may return the better to thinking”. To have a break from academic routine we organize many programs. From the year before last, we had introduced a new program by clubbing the students of Green Army & Knowledge Lantern. They together organised an event – “Nutri fest” on 23 rd Nov 2016.  Most of the children actively participated. The main objective of the program is to make all aware of healthy food habits and their role in regular diet rather than junk foods. It was a full day program. Girls and boys actively participated in making delicious foods such as veg burgers, sandwiches, veg salads, fruit salads, and cool drinks such as avil milk, butter milk, nannari sarbath, & traditional foods of Kerala. Language is the medium through which educational process fulfills its aims. So it is highly essential that the students should be able to handle language in its best level. An essay writing competition (CADMUS) was conducted by the Green Army ASAP club, on 03/08/2016 GBHSS Chittur for the higher secondary students. Most of the students actively participated. The topic was “The importance of skill development of getting employment and poverty reduction.”  The best entry from the school was selected and competed in the district level. The evaluation was done by expert panel of judges. The world we live in is highly competitive. A healthy competitive spirit is essential in all walks of life.
  National skill day  was celebrated on 15/07/2016 at GBHSS Chittur. The main objective of the program was to create awareness among the Plus 1 students regarding skill up- gradation, building of new skills, and innovative thinking not only for existing jobs but also jobs that are to be created. Program started at 10.00 AM as per the schedule with an orientation program about ASAP by the Plus 2 ASAP students. Our students shared their thoughts about ASAP, the courses offered, their scope, and course details. It captured the interest of Plus 1 students. The orientation program got finished by 11.00 AM.  The Green Army club also conducted an exhibition. Its major attraction was the charts prepared and displayed by the ASAP students. In keeping this directive the ASAP has adopted a continuous and comprehensive assessment and evaluation process. This method examines the extent to which students are able to assimilate concepts and apply them. Conservative methods of learning do not enable students to apply their minds and analytical abilities to the full. To inculcate and promote general awareness and application oriented learning, the Green Army club conducted an interview for the ASAP students on 22/06/2016. Interview had started at 11.00 A.M. as per schedule. The students attempted the interview with great interest. “ World environment day” celebration and “Green Army” club inauguration were held on 06 th June 2016 at Govt. Boys H.S.S. Chittur. The programme were organised by the ASAP students. The main objective of the programme was to facilitate the needs in conserving and protecting environment. So the theme was environment. My school GBHSS Chittur is an upper primary with secondary and higher secondary school in chittur. It is located in chittur – tattamangalam, chittur block and Palakkad district. It is one of the oldest schools in this area. It is established in 1870. It’s a Malayalam medium co-educational school. Total 147 batches completed in this school from the past 147 years. Classes running in this school are up to 12 th standard. The school has 24 teaching staff for strength of 600 students. Character is a concept similar to culture but much less neutral. A school’s character is known by how the school is viewed by members and outsiders in the ethical and moral terms.
